BECOME A CASA

CASA volunteers come from many different places and all walks of life. Whatever life experiences you bring with you, YOU can be a successful volunteer. All you need is the shared passion and commitment to advocate for children!

 

How CASA started

 

Here from founder Judge David Soukup on his thought process that led the the formation of the CASA program.

Ready to help amplify the voice of a child?

1. Apply

  • Be 21 years of age or older

  • Be able to provide 3 references

  • Provide your driver’s license number for the mandatory background check

  • Complete the online application

  • You must complete the application in a single session; you will not be able to save and return to it later.

2. Interview

  • Our staff will follow up with you after your application has been reviewed. A pre-training interview with applicants will be scheduled to go over expectations and any questions you may have.

3. Train

  • Successfully complete initial six-week training session provided by National CASA and implemented by our local staff. Training includes a total of 30 hours with 15 hours containing online coursework and 15 total hours of weekly zoom sessions with staff.

  • Complete 12 hours of continuing education per year.

4. Advocate

  • Be able to keep all case related information confidential and work within established program guidelines.

  • Be able to commit at least 12 months of your time to your case.

  • Communicate with the child on a weekly basis and have in-person visits at least once a month.

  • Be able to work with all parties associated with the case.

  • Write up reports to the Court outlining the best interests of the child.

  • Maintain communication with assigned Volunteer Coordinator on a minimum of once a month to keep them up-to-date on your efforts.
